Boston Bankruptcy Attorney Nicholas Ortiz has a good blog post on how judgments affect real estate or land:

Kentucky law is similiar in that judgment liens can be filed in the county court clerks office and operate as a lien on any land or real estate that you own at the time the lien is filed.  When discussing bankruptcy with an attorney, always be sure and tell them whether there are any judgment liens on your property.  If you aren’t sure if there are, and have been sued in the past, then go to the local county court clerk and ask them to check under your name and see if any judgment liens are filed.
